Masters
Tournament Committee Meeting Minutes

March
4, 2017 – 2:30 pm

Bradenton
Shuffle Clubhouse

Roll Call:

Masters Committee:  Dolores Brown, Tournament
Director, Lowell Williams, Bill Comford, Brad Thomas, Bob Comford,
Steve Slaughterbeck, Jerry Stannard, and Margaret Hartzler

SWCD Board Members
Present:  Ron Nurnberger,
Past President; Kay Lynn Duncan, John Brown

Issues for 2017
Masters Tournament

1.     Tournament
Format—Dolores plans to use same format as 2016 Masters (See
Attachment). Skill Shots used to break ties.

2.    Rules require specific
number of players be signed up two weeks prior for Master Tournaments
and this Thursday 3/9/2017 is deadline date.  To date, Dolores reports only four (4) District Am ladies
signed up with 1 possible cancellation.  No Alternate for Men.

Issue #2 Concerns:  Of the 4 D. Am ladies
signed up, one may not be able play; and a second lady holds 13 master
points, will be a St Am in fall—and this is her only chance to play
in D. Am Masters.  Without
4 lady players, Ladies D. Am Masters Tournament cannot be held.  There
are eight (8) Men D. Ams signed up, and no male alternate player.  Need guidelines for Tournament Director to follow if there are
only 3 lady players; and how to handle no male alternate.

Motion made by
Margaret Hartzler, “If there are not enough Ladies to play in the
Dist. Am Masters, the lady shuffler holding 13 master points be
allowed to be the 8th/9th player in the Mens Dist. Am Masters
Tournament.”  Jerry
Stannard seconded motion.  Motion
carried unanimously by SWCD Board members present.

Dolores reported
six ladies signed up for St. Am Masters; and 13 Ladies signed up for
Pro Masters.

3.    Ties for 8th Place–St Am Men, 13 signed up and there is a 5-way tie for 8th place.  For the 5-way tie,
there will be a playoff format for the 8th position by the
5 tied players.

Motion made by
Jerry Stannard “Should there be any ties for 8th place
in any division, those players would play one 12 frame game (6 &
6) against each other to determine that place and/or the alternate
place.”  Steve
Slaughterbeck seconded, motion carried.

Dolores will set
time and date of tie playoff to be held at Trailer Estates.

Actual
“Masters Tournament” will be held at Palmetto Park.

Miscellaneous
Masters Assignments and Items

·         Pins Order:  Jerry S. wants to hold off on pins order until after the
tournament due to the uncertainty on number of players.  Pins will be given out to players in the fall.

·         Jo Miller has bought
photo frames for pictures.

·         Palmetto will order and
pickup 5 dozen donuts for “each” Masters play day at
Wal-Mart.

·         Peter Berg will take the
pictures.

·         Courts are to be swept at
noon each day and then beaded for afternoon play.

Players
Responsibility

Players are to be
there on first day of play at 8am for photo shoot.  Dolores will begin tournament as close to 9am as possible.
Alternate players must be there on first day.  Each day thereafter, alternates must leave a cell phone number
w/ Dolores and be available on moment’s notice to play.  Each
player shall be asked to check the spelling of their name for accuracy
when we order plaques.
